Furthering Your Knowledge

Several Francophone organizations join forces to address issues of common interest. Here are the community partners that help the Yukon Francophone community shine:

Association franco-yukonnaise (AFY)

Since 1982, l’Association franco-yukonnaise (AFY) has been supporting the vision of a strong and sustainable Yukon Francophone community with many partners, contributing to the development of the Yukon. Its mission is to create, develop and maintain the services, activities and institutions necessary to advance life in French in the Yukon in collaboration with its private, community and government partners.

L'Aurore boréale

Established in 1983, it is the bimonthly Yukon Francophone newspaper. Through the judiciously chosen quality information it provides, it helps encourage Yukoners to live, act and build together.

Commission scolaire francophone du Yukon (CSFY)

Established in 1996, it manages French first language educational programs throughout the territory. As of September 2020, it had nearly 350 students in its three schools.

Comité francophone catholique Saint-Eugène-de-Mazenod

It gives the Yukon Francophone Catholic community the opportunity to live its faith and participate in religious activities and social initiatives in French.

Garderie du petit cheval blanc

A not-for-profit Francophone daycare established in 1989. It serves more than a hundred families through its daycare programs, before and after school daycare services and day camps. Its quality services ensure that the French language and culture are passed on to future generations.

Les Essentielles

A not-for-profit organization established in 1995. It represents Yukon Francophone women, supports them in achieving their full potential and helps them fully participate in society.

Partenariat communauté en santé (PCS)

Established in 2003 to improve health and well-being within the Yukon Francophone community. It promotes the involvement of the community in managing the health of its members. The organization works with its community, institutional and government partners to improve access to health and social services for Francophones. The PCS is a member of the networks belonging to the national organization Société Santé en français.

Société des immeubles franco-yukonnais (SIFY)

It manages the Centre de la francophonie and is also in charge of making spaces available to Francophone organizations and other community organizations.

Société d’histoire francophone du Yukon (SHFY)

Incorporated in April 2021, the Society’s mandate is to acquire, conserve, study, interpret and showcase Yukon Francophone history and heritage to improve community access to it, and its conservation for future generations. It works with Yukon organizations to promote the journeys, historical foundations and achievements of the Francophone community. It supports the public in its search for information locally, nationally and internationally.

Fondation boréale

Established in 2005, it is a charitable organization that contributes to the development and vitality of the Yukon Francophone community. It raises money and distributes it in the priority areas it has identified.
